Compass Version 1.3
User PreferencesIn Compass, every user has the ability to set several preferences to tailor the Compass interface to their liking as well as to link themselves to source-control users. All users can access their preferences by clicking on the 'my prefs' link at the upper right hand corner of the Compass Interface:
After clicking on this link the user preferences page is displayed and looks like this:
As you can see from the above screen shot, there are three sections. The User Password section is where users can update their password. In the Languages section, users can select their preferred language. Currently Compass only ships with English support, however language packs can be delivered if needed. At the bottom of the user preferences page is the Aliases section. The Aliases section allows users to create a mapping between their Compass user name and their source-control user name. Compass uses aliases to determine who checked in each change to repositories and in the case of builds that are triggered by revision changes, assigns the build to the user who checked in the change. Compass assigns the build run by matching an alias to the user name in the revision log for each revision. If no alias matches the name in the revision log then Compass falls back and tries to match Compass user names to the name in the revision log. If there is still no match then Compass assigns the build to the Compass user who scheduled the build. To Add a new Alias users select the source-control server that they need to create an alias for from the drop down list, then enter their source-control user name in the text box and click 'Create Alias'. To remove an alias, users can click the 'Remove' button in the right most column for the alias they want to remove.
