Scheduled Builds

The Compass Schedule Builds table displays a list of all the currently scheduled build plans. This section is displayed on a number of Compass pages including all Compass Project pages and the Build Plan Editor page. The table looks like to this:

The Schedule Builds table has three columns.

  1. When
  2. Build
  3. Options

The 'when' column displays when the next build will execute or the frequency of the build run. Depending on how the build was scheduled this can say a number of different things. There are three categories of things that can be displayed here. When a build plan is scheduled to run immediately the 'when' column will say, 'Will run momentarily.' When a build plan is schedule to run when a repository changes the 'when' column will say, 'build on changes to xxx on server yyy' The xxx is the path in the repository that the scheduled build is watching or 'root' and yyy is the name of the source-control server. Finally, when a build plan is scheduled to run at a regular interval the 'when' column will say something similar to, 'every 2 hours' or whatever the increment is for the scheduled build run.

The 'Build' column displays which build plan will be executed. Users can click on the build plan name to see the build plan page and view which scripts will be run.

If the user viewing the Schedule Builds table is as site-wide admin or an admin for that project then the Options column displays a drop down list of actions that can be taken. In Compass version 1.1 there are four options:

  1. Users can select 'Start Build Now' which will cause Compass to schedule an immediate execution of the build plan in that row. When users select this option the existing schedule is still maintained and a build will still be started at it's next regularly scheduled time.
  2. Users can select 'Disable Build' which will cause Compass to skip scheduling the build plan until the build is re-enabled. This is essentially telling Compass to pause execution of this scheduling option on this build plan.
  3. Users can also select 'Enable Build' which will cause Compass to start scheduling a previously disabled build plan. This is essentially telling Compass to un-pause execution of this scheduling option on this build plan.
  4. Users can select to 'Remove Scheduled Build' which will cause Compass to permanently remove the scheduled build plan from the Compass Server.

If the user is not a site-wide admin and not a project admin then no options will be available.
